11
It was now 5am, Scott was sound asleep when he felt a kiss on his forehead. Scott sat for a second, eyes closed, he knew that the only other person in the hospital room was Karrueche, and there was just no way that this could be her. When he opened his eyes, he was greeted by a kiss on the lips. It was Karrueche, up and kicking like nothing had ever happened. She did in fact take notice that Scott was in a wheel chair, "What happened?" Karrueche asked, unsuccessfully holding back her tears. "None of that matters, Kae, I'm just greatful you're alive." Karrueche climbed on top of Scott's lap and the two of them sat for hours while Scott worked up the courage to ask Karrueche what he'd been wanting to ask for a while.
"Karrueche, will you marry me?" Scott said, realizing that he finally got those words to come out of his mouth. "Yes, Yes!" Karrueche responded, now sobbing and kissing Scott as much as she could.
After about a dozen tests, Karrueche was released from the hospital later that afternoon. The two began to leave the hospital, it was surreal, considering neither of them had been outside of the building in weeks. They had no idea what waited for them outside of these walls, but they were happily heading out.
The couple approached Castle Apartments and noticed that the nature of the building seemed to be in a gloomy, silent state. Soon after, Scott found out that a woman had been killed in her apartment earlier, but neither Scott or Karrueche wanted to hear any details, they just wanted to be in bed.
Scott's life had now changed drastically, sure, he would walk again one day and was greatful for that, but not nearly as greatful for the fact that Karrueche was by his side. Scott realized that his life, which used to consist of girls, partying and music would now consist of physical therapy and his fiance, whom he loved dearly. He also realized what will come will come, even if shrouded in silence.
Rose
It's been three weeks since the accident. Karrueche's parents had come to visit, staying at the hospital just as Scott was, waiting for her to wake up. Scott had still not left the hospital, and he hadn't done a drug or a DJing gig in weeks. Only time he left was to go to physical therapy, and even then he only had Karrueche on his mind. He didn't care about the time he was "Wasting away" or how many people told him that she would be okay and he could go home, he was going to be there when Karrueche awoke.
The thing is, when a someone has that much time to think, one's mind begins to play tricks on them. Even though he couldn't remember the day that they leaped off of St. Madgeline's, or the days leading up to it, Scott couldn't help but to think that he was the blame for the whole situation. He was determined to see this through though, letting no one convince him to leave.
The number 5 seemed to be a constant motif throughout this entire process. The doctor said that Scott and Karrueche had five different drugs in their systems, Scott woke up in hospital room #5, Karrueche in room #55. The date was 5/5/2012, Scott had 5 stiches in his face and the address of St. Madgeline's was 155 Brownstone Rd
Since Karrueche's parents were in town, Scott decided to talk to her dad about the possibilty of marriage.
"I love your daughter more than anything I have ever loved, I wanna do nothing but keep her both happy and safe. Which is why, with your permission sir, when she wakes up, I'd like to ask for Karrueche's hand in marriage." Scott sighed with relief and waited for a response.
"Scott, I have never in my life seen a love as unconditional as the love you have for my baby girl. I would be honored to call you my son in-law." Karrueche's dad replied, reaching out for a handshake.
Scott had an easier time falling asleep that night, with he rose that he placed next to Karrueche was still alive and kicking, letting him know that every little thing was gonna be alright..
Vacation
Scott woke up to a beeping sound. He was used to not knowing where he was, but this time it was different. Scott tried to get up, but couldn't seem to move his legs. "What the fuck?!" Scott shouted, causing 3 nurses to rush in to calm him down. "Why can't I get up?!" Scott shouted, "Where's Karrueche?!" It seemed to Scott that the nurses were ignoring his questions, causing Scott to get more angry. Anger became sadness when one of the nurses shouted "You're paralyzed!" Scott, calmed his voice and said nothing else.
A couple of minutes later the doctor came into the room with an x-ray and a look of dissapointment on his face. "How are you Scott?" the doctor said, not really expecting a response. "Scott, I have some bad news; you're paralyzed from the waist down." Scott still said nothing, just starred at the wall. Scott thought about what the blind man said to him, "What will come will come. Even if i shroud it all in silence," He finally had an idea of what the guy meant by that, and what will come had come in Scott's eyes. He will never walk again.
"Uh-hem," the doctor cleared his throat in hopes to make Scott pay attention,"The good news is, we ran some tests, and it looks as if it is temporary. You could be walking again in as little as six months."
Scott, who was relived that he would be able to walk again one day still only had one question for the doctor, "Where's Karrueche?" The doctor let Scott know that while Karrueche was alive and showed no signs of paralysis, she was in a coma, and had been for 4 days. The doctor also told Scott he could see Karrueche as soon as he was released from the hospital.
Later that day, Scott, wheel chair bound, rolled into Karrueche's hospital room. Even though she was in a coma, Karrueche was still the most beautiful girl he'd ever seen. At that moment, Scott knew he wanted to spend the rest of his life with Karrueche. He had never cared so much for anyone in his life, and to see Karrueche hooked up to these machines, hit him hard.
Scott spotted some red roses on the window seal of the hospital room with a card attached, "To Petra, Love Mom." The roses were all still alive, which was surprising because of the lack of water and sunlight they recieved in that hospital room. Scott took one of the roses and set it into a glass of water next to Karrueche's bed. He figured as long as the rose was alive, Karrueche would remain stable. Scott decided he wouldn't be leaving the Karrueche's side until she woke up. He sang to her, told her stories and had conversations with her.
"Karrueche I promise that as soon as you wake up and I'm out of this god forsaken wheel chair, we are going on the best vacation ever." Karrueche had talked about wanting to go to Fiji, and Scott was gonna make that happen, all she had to do was wake up..
I feel like flying..
Scott was used to getting pretty wasted at parties, events and even on his own. Never in a million years did he think that he would find a someone who could keep up with him, and he was definitely taking advantage of that. Since returning from Los Angeles 4 days ago, neither Scott or Karrueche had left the apartment. The thing about it was, neither of them was quite sure how long they had been in the house.
The one thing that they were sure about was that they had just run out of pills. As disoriented as they were, they were determined to get to the clinic and get what they needed. After managing to put their clothes on, the pair headed out the door. Even though the clinic was literally across the street, the walk seemed like a journey, with everything moving in slow motion around them.
The duo finally made it to the clinic and managed to talk to a nurse.
"Excuse me, are you Clara Kate?" Scott said, in the most southern of voices.
Clara Kate took a little too long for Scott to answer, making Scott a little temperamental.
"We want some fucking pills!" Scott exclaimed, frightening the lady, who decided to go get the head doctor to handle the situation.
"COME BACK HERE RIGHT NOW!" Scott continued to scream, "COME AND SERVE US!"
Clara Kate and he doctor come back to the lobby and decide to talk to Karrueche, who seemed a lot more calm than Scott. Somehow Karrrueche got the doctor to give up the goods. But not without the "Don't take these with other drugs" speech. But Karrueche, being the rebel that she is, opens the bottle, took a swallow, turned to Scott, and he followed suit.
The two began to take the journey home when Scott realized that he should have listened to the doctor.
"Kae, I don't know if we should've taken those pills." Scott said.
"That fucking doctor doesn't know what he's talking about Scott." Karrueche replied, beginning to climb on top of St. Magdeline's "We can do whatever the hell we want."
"What are you doing?" Scott asked.
"I'm going to show you and that fucking doctor that I can do whatever I want."
Scott climbed on top of the building, "She's right," Scott thought, "We can do whatever the fuck we want."
Karrueche began singing a slow melody, "Finally once the drugs are gone, I feel like dying, I feel like dying."
Scott joins in, "Finally once the drugs are gone, I feel like dying, I feel like dying."
Karrueche reaches out and grabs Scott's hand and the two continue to sing "Finally once the drugs are gone," the couple takes a few steps toward the edge, "I feel like dying," more steps, "I feel like dying."
There are no more steps to take, the couple, as high as ever, leap off of the roof of St. Magdeline's.
